Sometime During School – [F/N]’s House

You scoffed, tossing the remote on your bed before you in frustration. You had been playing for nearly two hours straight on a classic Playstation 2, Destroy All Humans, and, to put it simply, you had failed your mission horribly. You used to be an absolute pro at this game, however, it would seem that you had lost your touch a tad.

It would appear you would have to play a little more often in order to stay on your toes. Though you did not consider yourself a gamer, nor a good one at that, but you could most certainly kick David’s ass in nearly any game; it was something you could take great pride in.

Even so, you had stared endlessly at the screen of your television for far too long, your leg crossed over the other nearly cutting of the circulation to the lower regions of your legs. You needed to relax and take a short break, thus you crawled off your bed and bounded out of your room, down the hall and descended the [S/C] carpeted staircase that landed you in your large living room. Then, you jogged lightly towards the kitchen towards your right, separated from the living room with a smooth, creamy wall.

The house was vacant, you being the only person that remained inside. David had long left for work, not returning for another three hours at most. You had been alone in the house for quite some time, managing to distract yourself with her Playstation in your room; you had been hit rather hard by the nostalgic games from your childhood, some that you hadn’t played for years and years. You were proud at recalling some of the controls and even some of the old secrets without having to reply on any external means.

Video games had also been a rather good distraction from the other event that lead to your reason for skipping school. Your new hair cut was not something you prominently cared about, after all, it would grow back eventually. Though you were bothered by how disproportionately your tormentors had clipped the delicate strands, you had fixed the issue yourself. You had dared to wear a short sleeved shirt, and dark [S/C], which naturally exposed your fading injuries. The bruises were still ever noticeable. However, they had evidently had begun to heal over the past few days and the pain gradually subsided until you could not feel it any longer.

The only bruise that appeared the most disguisable was on the upper region on your left arm, the dark, ugly coloration easily detectable; though it was partially concealed by the sleeve, it could still be seen without much difficultly. The injury that was even worse than that was on your back, another bruise thought much bigger and darker than all the rest, where one of your attackers mercilessly delivered a strong kick. It still hurt, a throbbing pain that was especially annoying in the morning though thankfully decreased by the time lunch rolled around.

David wanted something to be done, as any other brother would demand, but you had firmly negated for any actions to be taken. He wanted justice, pay back if you will. He could not allow such behaviors to slip by when obviously someone needed to be punished, whether it be one of the girls or all of them, he didn’t care. David was going to have a long talk with your instructors about the issue tomorrow, seeing as he had a day off from work.

David didn’t like the idea of how openly you showing of your injuries regardless of how faded they were. He didn’t understand why you did this, nor did any polite or demanding requests sway you to undergo an outfit change. He didn’t have time to argue, he was fine with this as long as you didn’t venture outside.

It was beautiful weather, shockingly as it was nearly the middle of October. Halloween was fast approaching and yet it almost felt like summer was attempting to return for one more day. You almost had to choose between basking in the glorious sunlight [that would most likely not return for quite some time] or waste your day away indoors. Due to the fact that you would be forced to wear long clothing in order to conceal the bruises and scratches on your arms, which would ultimately cook you alive if you were to step outside the threshold of the front door, you opted to remaining indoors and play video games until David returned.

You had a blast, until you lost horribly in Destroy All Humans.

Now in the kitchen, you rummaged through the refrigerator in search for a snack, deciding on a pack of fresh blueberries – the larger kind. You quickly rinsed the small berries then piled then into a small bowl. Skipping towards the living room where the largest flat screen TV within the household was located, you planted yourself on a nice, comfortable couch with a lounge. You popped several juicy blueberries into your mouth and you snatched hold of a remote that lay on the center seat of the couch, and turned on the TV; you quickly beginning to surf through the dozens and dozens of channels in hopes of finding something entertaining, deciding for the television screen to be the replacement of the one upstairs.

Speaking of the TV upstairs, you paused mid – way as you realized you had forgotten to save and turn of the Playstation. You let out a mild cuss and stood up, bringing the bowl along with her as you dragged yourself back to the staircase.

Knock, knock, knock.

You halted, swiveling your head towards the front door. That was rather odd, seeing as you did not expect anyone to arrive nor was David remotely close to finishing with work. In addition, you had high doubts that any of your friends would ditch school just to see you, even Sanji. It was true that you had been through a trying time, but you were doing much better compared to days prior when they did skip school you. You truly did have loyal and caring friends.

It must be a sales person, maybe even a girl scout wanting to sell her some cookies or chocolate. Regardless, you were not interested in such treats, for you had a wonderful bowl of delectable blueberries just waiting to be eaten. As far as you knew, the person on the other side was completely ignorant of you being home. They would leave eventually.

There was another set of knocks, sounding a tad bit more irritated than before.

Maybe they won’t go away as you thought.

You approached the door with some reluctance, opening the door, though you kept the chain secured in the lock. You never know who is out there, and that saying was most definitely true in this case, for you could not believe your eyes at the sight before you.

    Trafalgar D. Water Law.

Yes you knew the guy’s full name, everyone does; little to nothing was secret about his life. Someone, somehow, knows what he is doing, where he is, and what he’s saying. This unprecedented visit was not something you expected nor was prepared for at all.

In addition, school was currently in session. What the hell was he doing here? Is he aware that he is missing class? He is throwing away this opportunity to learn and for what? You didn’t know for what, it confused you greatly, so much so that you blinked a few times to determine if the person before you was really there – he was.

Once you snapped yourself out of your daze, you narrowed your eyes wearily, questioning slowly, “Why are you here? You know that you’re a bit early for the English project thing right? That was supposed to be on Saturday, not today.”

Law was silent for a moment, as if carefully wording his reasons for arriving other than the project. The ravenette would never come to your house if it wasn’t for work or if it was a last ditch effort to contact her about something crucial, though this was the very first time he was ever at your doorstep.

Her hair. Law thought, his eyes actually widening at the sight of your hair, now much shorter than how it originally was. Nami was telling the truth, unfortunately, he almost hoped it was just a joke. A cruel, heartless joke, but it wasn’t. He didn’t know what to think at the sight of you, nor what emotions to physically display if he could.

As you waited for a response, you casually began to snack on the blueberries you had brought along with you, nearly forgetting the nutritional treat was in your hands. Law paused at the sight of the fruits, raising an eyebrow but did not voice his thoughts.

He then noticed you exposed arms which he could see just beyond the threshold of the door, his silver eyes flashing so quickly with a bit of concern that anyone could miss it. You saw no change in his expression, in fact you didn’t even noticed his persistent stare directed previous towards your hair and now towards your arms, or to be more specific the bruises.

Finally, Law cleared his throat, “I know that the meeting for the project was on Saturday, but I didn’t come for that. I came because I heard of the,” he hesitated, “the incident. I just wanted to check up on you.”

You blinked, “Incident?” you echoed, “What incident – oh. . . That. . . Incident. . . We’re talking about the same one right?”

Law’s eyes narrowed, “I’d assume so. I was referring to the harassment.”

“Oh, yeah,” you pursed your lips together, not actually thinking of the same incident as the medical student, “Yeah, uh, that was an interesting day. Very physical and, well, just interesting. Who told you about it?”

    “The money pincher.”

    “Nami.”

    “Yeah, her.”

The awkward tension quickly breed around the pair as you glanced off to the side uneasily as the memories of the event flooded your head, though you continued to snack very slowly on the blueberries. It wasn’t necessarily a large trigger referring to the harassment, but it certainly wasn’t a fun subject that you would enjoy talking about, and not with him.

You then blinked, almost in shock as you gawked owlishly at Law, whom furrowed his brows in confusion at sudden look he was given. You supported you her weight against the doorway as you leaned against it a bit, “Did you just say you wanted to check up on me? On me?”

“I did,” Law answered, “Why? Is that a problem?”

You deadpanned, tilting your head back as you stared at the man with narrowed eyes, “Who are you and what have you done with Trafalgar Law?”

The tattooed sadist scoffed unimpressed, slipping his hands into his Jean pockets as he closed one eye, “Don’t think too much into it. I wasn’t worried about you, I’d die before I let that happen.”

“You just said you wanted to check up on me, loser!” You countered with a laugh, pointing at the ravenette.

“Shut it, Shorty – ya.” Law hissed, mildly irritated, “I already said I didn’t care!”

    “Liar.” You sang provokingly.

“I am not lying! I could care less what happens to you!”

“You said you could care less, which means you do care.”

“Do not turn my words against me!”

“I just did.” you suddenly held out the bowl of blueberries, though it could only get so far as the chained lock was still in place, and suggested teasingly, “Here, have a blueberry. It’ll help calm ya down.”

    “I don’t want one.”

“Come on, take one! You know you wanna.” You tempted as you moved the bowl in a circular motion.

    “I said, no.”

“Fine, it wasn’t even going to give you one anyways.”

    “Then why offer?”

“So I could refuse to give you them.” You stuck your tongue out at the tattooed man.

Law rolled his eyes, “So mature of you.”

There was a pause, as if one was waiting for the other to continue but they refused. Law had grown very annoyed since the very moment you began to run your damn mouth. It was no surprise, he should have expected this regardless of your circumstances or appearance, especially towards himself. You couldn’t even take your own harassment seriously.

Law considered leaving, after all, you appeared well and did not appear to be in any pain, the evidence being displayed before him as you continued to munch on the blue fruits. He saw no reason to remain any longer, and as he prepared to say his farewells and return to his car, he stopped. His eyes fell on the bruises once again, and his lips twitched downward in a ghost of a frown. He recalled that Nami said that you had other injuries, some maybe far worse than those visible on your arms. You never specified what the other injuries were, but your friends were more than certain they were present.

It was unethical and against the morals of a doctor to leave his patients, or anyone injuries for that matter, to suffer. You may appear to be content, even fantastic if you so believed it, but deep down Law knew you were the exact opposite.

No one can walk away from such harassment then put a genuine smile on their face a few days later.

In addition, Cora – son would give Law hell if he simply left, as well as Nami and the rest of that group. He was almost being forced to do the unthinkable, something he would never do even if he were paid a great deal of money. It was this or getting his ass kicked later.

Breathing a sigh of pure reluctance and dislike, Law asked, “Can I stay for a little?”

You blinked, pausing in mid – bite at his words. Did you hear him correctly? Did he just ask what you think he asked? Was he for real? Was he pulling your leg?

Swallowing the remaining bits in your mouth, you replied, “What was that? Can you repeat that?”

Law huffed, tilting his head downwards just enough for the brim of his fuzzy hat to conceal his eyes, as if to mask his embarrassment, “I asked if I could stay a little.”

Again, you blinked, wide eyes as you gawked at the tanned man in utter disbelief. It was difficult to tell whether Law was truly serious about staying or if he was simply being sarcastic. He did sound pretty genuine, even if he was very hesitant on requesting such a thing.

The crazy thing was that he did request it!

However, you still had doubts that he was serious about it, for obvious reasons.

“You want to stay, in the same house? In the same room – with me? Breathing the same air? With me? Talking with me in the same room, in the same house? No arguing and acting as if we’re friends?”

“In a sense, though not friends, over my dead body, Shorty – ya. So, what do you say? Though I don’t care what you decided in the end.”

“No seriously, are you really Trafalgar Law?”

“Stop dancing around the question and just answer it!”

“Why do you wanna stay? I thought you hated me.”

“I do, I mean no I don’t its just. . . Well obviously I have a strong dislike towards you and you may consider it hate, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care – I mean I don’t care but there are other things I care about. . . I mean. . . I just hate you but not at the same time.” Law cursed himself, not anticipating himself to suddenly jumble and stumbled on his words as pathetically as he did just then. Why would he say all of that?

You sweat dropped at the perplexing array of words and sentences, “Alright, though I have no idea what the hell you just said. You were talking way too fast.”

Law said nothing in response, now he merely waited to hear whether his request would be debited or allowed.

In your perspective, you were debating whether or not to actually comply with his request. You did not like him, and from his baffling 'explanation' it would appear he felt the same way. Why would he want to stay if he didn’t like you? He was truly bipolar in his actions.

Should you let him in or reject his offer?

As you can see, Reader - Chan, you have a choice to make! Choose wisely, because whatever choice you make will be the next part!  Luffy Anime Emoji (Big grin) [V3]  Comment below whether you'll let Law in or tell the sadistic bastard to get lost!  Grin revamp
